![]() | Created in 2011 by the Nuclear Energy Division of CEA, the French leader for research on materials for nuclear applications, the MINOS Centre of Excellence for Nuclear Materials sustains fundamental and applied research related to the behavior of nuclear materials and structures. MINOS consists of around 700 staff members involved in fundamental and applied research on nuclear materials in areas such as chemistry, physics, mechanics, and behavior under irradiation. Research programs are guided by industrial needs. It offers a broad spectrum of R&D activities in the field of materials science and engineering for nuclear applications. Complex systems for nuclear-based electricity may be exposed to severe service conditions (irradiation, temperature, mechanical loading, corrosive environment). It is thus essential to rely on high-performance, durable materials and structures. In order to extend the lifespan of current reactors and to improve NPP availability, research must be performed to guarantee that this can be done safely. Optimizing current and future claddings and fuels, designing new materials for 4th generation reactors and improving radioactive waste management call for innovative and groundbreaking research to increase the reliability of predictive models for operating conditions and potential accident scenarios. Those issues are the major ones with which the research teams associated to MINOS are highly concerned. Through the MINOS initiative, CEA reaffirms its position as a world leader in nuclear materials R&D and demonstrates a strong innovative capacity and ability to execute and supervise research programs for national and international industrial partners. | CEA MINOS CEA Saclay - Centre MINOS Bâtiment 520 91191 GIF-SUR-YVETTE Cedex - France Phone: +33 (0)1 69 08 37 17 Web site: www.materials.cea.fr/en/minos |

![]() | NanoMEGAS was established in 2004 and specialises in advanced electron diffraction techniques for TEM. It was the first to develop and commercialise Precession Electron Diffraction (PED) products to reduce dynamical effects and improve the application of electron diffraction techniques in TEM. These applications include: Phase & Orientation Mapping (ASTAR) at the nm scale, Strain mapping with a sensitivity of 0.02%, Diffraction Tomography (ADT-3D) for crystal structure determination of nm sized crystals and Electron Pair Distribution Function (e-PDF) for analysis of amorphous materials. This advanced product range is compatible with most commercial TEMs’. | NanoMEGAS SPRL Blvd Edmond Machtens 79, B-1080 BRUSSELS - Belgium Web site: www.nanomegas.com |
